
Civility.
  There is a big difference between presenting your reasoned opinions in
 a public or private exchange of ideas and using words to belittle or 
insult another.  First, you must understand that another's opinions are 
as valid to them as yours are to you.  Second, you must realize that 
belittling or insulting another says more about you than the person it 
is being done to.  Third, intelligence is not accentuated by verbal 
cruelty; rather it proves the lack thereof.
